Celebrating Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month With Fresh Produce (Part 2)

In our ongoing appreciation and acknowledgement of Asian American and Pacific Islanders Heritage during the month of May, let’s look at the produce from South Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific Islands.

If you missed the info about produce from West, Central, and East Asia, you can read it here.

The great melting pot of food and culture will merge on our Fourth of July blog where you will discover many delicious dishes created with the abundance we enjoy today.

The Produce of South Asia:

Includes Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, the Maldives, and Sri Lanka & with India being such a large country, you’ll find so much originating right from there.

The Produce of Southeast Asia:

Includes Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, Cambodia, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam

The Produce of the Pacific Islands:

Includes The Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, French Polynesia, Kiribati, the Marshall Islands, Nauru, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Palau, Solomon Islands, Tonga, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, and Wallis and Futuna

From India to Fiji, The Maldives to Laos, to say that this part of Asia is agriculturally diverse would certainly be an understatement!  The history is so rich that a lot of the produce found there has been grown in all areas of the world for thousands of years.  The cuisines of these nations reflect such a wide array of flavor & it is just an amazing place to have one region influence so much of our modern cuisine.
