Fig & Anise Bread


Bread & Cie’s oldest recipe, unbleached wheat flour is mixed with whole wheat flour, chopped figs & anise seeds for a slightly sweet bread born out of Roman tradition.


The fig & anise bread recipe from Bread & Cie is based on a bread baked for the Roman army as they marched.  The darker color is from the caramelization of the figs which adds a depth a flavor to this naturally leavened bread.
